A busy weekend for Surrey athletes saw 36 athletes take up the big West Midlands Inter County Competition @ Himley Hall and Park In Dudley on 22nd November. Once again our athletes stayed focused, fiercely competitive and ran with belief to deliver one of our most successful days at this event. Surrey athletes were once again a credit to their coaches, parents and themselves - never limiting their challenges but each challenging their limits as athletes.
The Year 7 Girls finished a pleasing 2nd Team placing behind West Midlands with Chloe Bartlet Midlands Champion (1st), Elizabeth Brown (5th) and Ella Feltham (8th). Their spirit and talent were matched by the Year 7 Boys also having top performers in the spirited Finley Palmer (6th) and Joshua Taylor (11th).
Our Juniors proved to be in a league of their own. The Junior Girls team were 22pts ahead of Cheshire (2nd) and had 4 top 10 athletes in Emily Davenport as Midlands Champion (1st), Sophie Keeble (4th), Isabel Goodey de Diego (6th), Harriet Hughes (7th). The Junior Boys finished 85 points ahead of Warwickshire (2nd Team) and had Leo Fry as Midlands Champion (1st) and Rafi Weeks (10th) achieve top 10 places. Pleasingly the Team packing secured the Team success – with 13th Charlie Pearl, 19th Etienne Victor, 20th Piers Matthews and 22nd Conor Junor.

ESAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP @ ARDINGLY SHOWGROUND, WEST SUSSEX. 15/03/2025
MEMORABLE ENGLISH SCHOOLS SUCCESS FOR TEAM SURREY – INTER GIRLS (1ST), INTER BOYS (2ND), SENIOR BOYS (2ND) & SENIOR GIRLS (3RD)
ALEX LENNON + KITTY SCOTT = IN LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN AS SENIOR BOY + INTER GIRL CHAMPION OF ENGLAND
KATY PYE = 3RD RANKED SENIOR GIRL IN ENGLAND
INTERNATIONAL SELECTION FOR A RECORD 5 SURREY ATHLETES – 4 IN INTER GIRLS TEAM
Surrey dominated both at Team and Individual level @ 2025ESAA Cross Country Championship @ Ardingly. Throughout the day our athletes thrived on the challenge offered by athletes and a tough undulating course. Inspired by our Senior Captains (Katy Pye 3rd and Alex Lennon 1st) Surrey had a weekend to remember as they took on the best in England and were in many ways unstoppable.
With over 43 Counties competing, our Team performances were inspired – With the Inter Boys showing Surrey athletes have few limits. Even the Junior Boys finished ahead of mighty Kent. The IG having 4 athletes in the top 10 (1st Kitty Scott. 4th Matilda Robertson, 6th Sabrina Coppola Johansen and 10th Tara Ferguson) were our top team although pleasingly Surrey had 4/6 Teams in the top 3 in all age groups.
A day when so many athletes delivered their next level of results thanks to their next level of thinking, belief and ambition.
